Week 18 1/29/12
Brewers VS Cappadona
This was an amazing display of steady up and down hockey. Both squads were moving the puck from end to end and the goalies were stopping all the shots made on them. The defenses were setting up the forwards and keeping the opposing offense from getting scoring chances. The entire period was a scoreless duel. Un heard of for the Brewers’ boys.
Second stanza saw the Brewers’ lads get a little more aggressive, still the Cappadona’s defense kept clearing the pucks to their forwards. The puck went into the net at 3:39. Brewers’ Jason SnellC , Adam Campana and Sean Young combined to get one past Jeff Saran, Cappadona’s net minder. The Cappadona boys kept up their efforts which paid off at 6:56. Jon Hayes did the end to end thing. The back and forth action continued for several minutes. At 10:26, Brent Olson and Sean Young did the work. So ended this period.
The last 12 remained a scoreless battle for minutes and seconds. The bodies and puck were speeding up and down the ice and the goalies put on their stone wall suits. With the last minute showing on the clock, Cappadona pulled their goalie. That is when Mat Beck got an empty netter.
Shoppers VS Donahues
The boys played seven minutes and 31 seconds of back and
forth hockey. At that point Ryan Foley and Mike MelansonC
made the moves to sneak one by Gerry Zegarelli. This
inspired the Shopper’s boys and 19 seconds later Ryan Foley and Derek Gauvin teamed
up to light the lamp. The defenses stepped up and the remainder of the period
saw no more goals.
Second
period saw the Donahues lads come to life. With 36
ticks off the clock, Pat Donovan assisted by Greg SantiniA
who got the feed from Sean Keefe made the play and got one past Brian Losier. This caused the Shoppers’ boys to tighten up their
defense and the Donahues squad did the same. The
first score came at the 9:17 mark. Shoppers’ Jeff Cutter, James Shaw and Chris MaCinnis did the give and go thing. 42 seconds later, Chris
MaCinnis and James Shaw reversed roles to light the
lamp. With 54 seconds remaining, Donahues’ Rugo SantiniC and Greg
SantiniA did the work.
The
last 12 was more of the back and forth hockey that the first was. The only goal
came at 3:52 off the stick of Derek Gauvin assisted
by the pass from Mike Melanson.
Shamrokcs VS Exline
Both
squads were moving up and down the ice. Both Chris Guyer and
Jon Ablanazp kept the puck out of their respective
nets. The Exlline boys were determined and at 4:36, Michael
Hurley, Adam Dilly and Brandon Cady did the job. The Shamrocks defense hunkered
down at this point and the Exline boys were denied
any further goals this period. The boys in green kept up their attack, but
Chris Guyer was equal to the task and the clock ran out
with no further scoring.
Second
12 Started out with the same intense back and forth
hockey for the first 5 minutes. 22 seconds later Michael Hurley, Adam Dilly and
Chris Schremp lit the lamp. The boys in white got
their next one at 6:50. This time it was Brandon Cady,
and John McKay were responsible. The period ended without another score.
The
last stanza got started early, Chris Schremp aided by a pass from Michael Hurley snuck the puck
into the net. Their next score came when Adam Dilly and Michael Hurley at 5:22.
The boys in green rallied at this point and at 7:04, Nick Sacca
and Evan Ricker did the job. This got the Exline lads
to step up their attack and at 7:42, Brian Donavan and Chris Barber teamed up
to light the lamp. The boys kept up the same fast paced up and down hockey
ensued for the remainder of the period.
Moose VS Perfection
The Perfection boys came out with all
cylinders firing. It took only one minute and forty seconds for them to score. Mike
Manfredi and Keven Vona combined to get the puck past Moose’s Jon Burek. This got the attention of the Moose’s defense and
the remainder of the peiod was a fast paced back and
forth game.
The
second stanza saw the Moose lads come out determined to assert themselves. With
1 minute and 19 seconds elapsed, Jeff Tellier and Phil
ColettiC did the give and go thing to get
one past Brian Quinn. The boys got another one at 2:55. This one came from Jim
Macdonald aided by a pass from Brian Sullivan. Keeping up the attack, Steve
Wenzel, Bryan McGrath and Brian Sullivan did the job. The Perfection boys were
not going to let that go and at 5:39 Kevin Ackerly
got the pass from Keven Vona
to light the lamp. That was all the defenses and goalies would allow for the
rest of this period.
The last 12 was a defensive struggle by both squads. The Perfection lads got the first goal at 6:11. Ryan Masse, Ryan Butler and Keven Vona did the work to tie the score. The next one came from Moose’s Bryan McGrath assisted by Jim Macdonald. It began to look like that would be the winning goal for the next several minutes. With 40 seconds left, Ryan Butler and Joe Penta made the play to light the lamp for the tie.
